PFAS are a group of chemicals sometimes called "forever chemicals" because they break down very slowly. Several PFAS compounds are restricted in California, and buyers increasingly ask about them. We only sell turf that comes with a written PFAS statement from the manufacturer, and we will show you that document before you buy — ask for it in the showroom or call (714) 782-7633. Southern California UV exposure and summer heat are hard on any turf. Our products carry a 16-year manufacturer warranty, which is longer than most. That warranty is a written document, not a marketing line — bring your questions to the showroom and we will let you read the coverage and exclusions before you commit, including where UV fading and heat-related wear sit.

If you are installing turf anywhere people fall from height — a public playground, a climbing structure, a raised deck edge — what matters is the applicable fall-protection standard, the underlayment depth required for your fall height, and the manufacturer's installation instructions. We will give you the published test reports for the specific product you are considering, and we expect you (or your engineer, or the playground inspector) to confirm the assembly meets the standard for your site. We do not sell a "California playground certification" because that is not a thing. For pets and children, the two things that genuinely matter are drainage and infill: ask us what infill each product uses and how it is tested.

California's Proposition 65 requires warnings for exposure to listed chemicals, and turf pigments and infills are worth asking about. Any supplier who says "100% lead-free, certified" without naming a test report is guessing. We will give you the pigment and infill safety data for the exact product you are buying, and we will tell you plainly if a product cannot supply it. For a children's play area, get a current written statement from the manufacturer rather than relying on a sales claim.

Replacing a maintained lawn with artificial turf does eliminate irrigation, mowing, and fertiliser for that area. The water and dollar savings depend entirely on your lawn size, your water district's rates, and how much you actually irrigate — so treat any headline figure as somebody else's lawn, not yours. Some water districts and cities do offer turf-replacement rebates, but the amounts and eligibility change often and are not always open to homeowners. Call your water district first; tell us who your district is and we will point you to the current program page.

Southern California has both dry spells and short, intense winter storms. Good drainage is what keeps turf from sitting in standing water, and it depends on three things: how well the sub-base is compacted, how much fall you build into it, and whether the product has a perforated backing. We do carry a proprietary-backed drainage option, but we will not quote you an inches-per-hour figure we cannot source — ask for the published test data for the specific product, plus our recommended compaction specification. That number plus a properly sloped base is what actually moves water. A brand name on a bag is not a drainage rate.

We will not tell you what artificial turf does to your home's value, and neither should anyone who quotes you a percentage. It depends on the buyer, the street, and the rest of the house. What is verifiable: artificial turf uses no irrigation water, which matters in a region with stage-2 and stage-3 restrictions, and low-water landscaping is something most buyers here recognise. Southern California summers do get very hot, and surface temperature is a fair question to ask. Any specific number a sales rep gives you ("15 degrees cooler") was measured somewhere, under some conditions, by somebody — ask which test and which product, and we will show you the data or say we do not have it. What is not in dispute: turf does not brown out in a heat wave, does not need water, and a light hose spray cools the surface immediately. For fire risk, ask for the manufacturer's flammability test report for the exact product, and check with your local fire district about what they require near structures and in wildfire-prone areas. We will not make a fire-safety claim we cannot back with a certificate.
